Spring Grove Alumni Chorus to Perform on Sun., Aug. 24 The Spring Grove Alumni Chorus, under the director of Mr. Lee Sands, will perform at First United Methodist Church, Hanover on Sunday, Aug. 24th. The Chorus will present a program of "Choral Praise and Worship" as part of the 10:30 a.m. Sanctuary worship service. A freewill offering will be taken to help cover music costs for the chorus and to provide funds for the Spring Grove Scholarship Foundation. Everyone is encouraged to attend. The church is located at 200 Frederick Street, Hanover. August 24th: First United Methodist Church would like to invite everyone returning to school to join us for "Blessing of the Backpacks" on August 24th at 8am service in the Sanctuary and both 10:30am services. August 31st: First United Methodist Church (200 Frederick St, Hanover, PA, 17331) will begin the fall semester of Sunday School classes for children, youth, and adults at 9:15am every Sunday. Please join us. We also encourage all who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord to join us in a 13-week membership class conducted during the Sunday School hour at 9:15am for those who wish to explore church membership. Contact church office, 637-1574. September 2008: Learn outside Sunday School- build your relationship with God through this unique and transformational Bible study. First United Methodist Church will start the following Disciple Bible Study Classes in September: Disciple 1 (34 weeks, complete overview of the Bible, 2.5 hour classes) held Monday evenings in the Lighthouse. Disciple 4 (32 weeks, portions of the Old Testament, John, James, Jude and Revelation, 2.5 hour classes) held Wednesday mornings in the Mezzanine. Invitation to the New Testament (8 weeks, overview of New Testament, 1 hour classes) held Wednesday afternoons in the Mezzanine. September 3rd: Please join the United Methodist Men's general meeting to be held on this date. This group meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6pm in the multi-purpose room. Bring your best singing voice and be ready to join in an Old Fashioned Hymn Sing led and accompanied by Bill Garrett. Barbecue sandwiches and beverages will be provided. September 7th: Grace Roots Revival 2- Please join at a 10am worship service followed by a fellowship meal at Penn Grove Retreat. This year our District Superintendent, Rev. Mark Webb, will present an exciting message on transformation. Music, activities and a chance to connect with members of First United Methodist will make this your special event for the fall. Pastor Jacobs, of First United Methodist Church, will lead a discussion group on Tuesday evenings at 7pm and 1pm Mondays beginning September 8th and running through the month of October. The study is based on the book "Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White: Thoughts on Religion, Morality and Politics" by Adam Hamilton. Books are available for $18, sign-up by contacting the church office, 637-1574 or office@firstumchanover.org. September 10th: Ever wonder how you can serve God in the best way possible as an individual? The PLACE Program can help you find the answer! Please join us at 6:15pm in the Parlor to complete the PLACE assessment. You will leave knowing the qualities God has blessed you with and how you can use them to JOYFULLY serve Him.
